Shelford Summer learning Journey

My country that I pick was is Canada it would be cool to travel to other places like these.
I Pick Canada because it would be so much fun learning how to speak Canadian and see how different it would be from New Zealand to compare to Canadian.

Did you know that ? The language that is spoken in Canada is English & French.

Did you know that ? The capital of Canada is Ottawa

Did you know that? The population is 35.9 Million

  1. G'day Shelford! It is great to see that you have joined the summer learning journey and that you have already learned a lot about Canada. That is awesome!

I, personally, love being Canadian. It is a huge, diverse and very interesting place to live. I am sure that you will learn a lot about the country when you blog with us this summer. In fact, I have asked my family and friends in Canada to blog with us and they will be really interested in reading your blogs and in writing back. They can tell you a lot about what life is like back home. Most of my friends/family live in the capital city of Ottawa but some also live out west in Vancouver. You have actually posted a picture of Vancouver in your blog (the second one down) as well as a picture of Toronto (the third and final picture on your blog post). Toronto is the largest city that we have in Canada. The population of the city is over 8 million people. Can you believe it? That is twice as many people as the entire population of New Zealand. WOW!

I'll look forward to learning more about Canada and to sharing some cool facts with you over the holiday.

Take care and I'll see you online this summer!

  2. Kia ora Shelford,
My name is Tania and I am a Manaiakalani Outreach Facilitator - I work in lots of different schools with teachers and learners who, like you, are using chromebooks for their learning and blogs to share their learning. I have been emailing with Rachel and she has told me all about The Summer Learning Journey, it's great that you have made a start and chosen Canada to explore. What an adventure you will have! You are right, it will be great to compare it to New Zealand. I have never been to Canada but I would really like to one day. I would like to go in the winter and see the snow because that is very different to where I come from in Whangarei. Keep up the great researching, reading, writing, creating and sharing. Enjoy your summer holiday.

  3. Kia ora Shelford!

I'm Mark, a teacher working for the Summer Learning Journey alongside Rachel. I'm not Canadian like her, but I know a few Canadians! I think you'll find that as a people they are very much like us - they enjoy a good laugh, they are multicultural, and they have a big annoying neighbour that they play sports with hahaha! Just kidding - it's a friendly rivalry just like we have with Australia, can you guess which neighbour I am talking about?

I hope you're enjoying your holidays and look forward to seeing more of your blogs soon!

    Kia kaha!

  5. Hi Shelford,
It's great to see you blogging over your holiday! I was quite fascinated with Canada when Mr and Mrs Bark use to teach at Pt England school. Ms MacKinlay lived there for three years too. It sounds like a great place to visit. Enjoy the rest of your holidays. Give my love to da and dad and your brother and sister too.

    Love Miss Lavakula
